Bike Louisville is currently working on providing Louisville bike routes in an online map, like Google maps.  A map of Louisville Metro Bikeways is now available for download. The map is available in two file sizes depending on your connection speed.  See below for the maps. (Note: Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to view the PDF map.)

Note:  If you don't see bike routes in the Hi-Res version below, use the zoom in tools in your PDF reader and they should appear as routes on the map.

Louisville is a great city for biking! Whether you want to bike to work, ride with your family in your neighborhood or bike to one of our wonderful parks, Louisville is working hard to promote and expanding options for safe biking.  Click below to learn more about how to ride safely in a bike lane and check out our map of existing lanes and paths.

Louisville is working to increase the number of bike lanes because they:

  • support and encourage bicycling as a means of transportation;
  • help define road space;
  • promote a more orderly flow of traffic;
  • encourage bicyclists to ride in the correct direction, with the flow of traffic;
  • give bicyclists a clear place to be so they are not tempted to ride on the sidewalk;
  • remind motorists to look for cyclists when turning or opening car doors;
  • signal motorists that cyclists have a right to the road;
  • reduce the chance that motorists will stray into cyclists’ path of travel;
  • make it less likely that passing motorists swerve toward opposing traffic;
  • decrease the stress level of bicyclists riding in traffic.
