Welcome from Mayor Abramson

Welcome to the 2008 MetroFest Calendar of Outdoor Festivals and Events!

Louisville is a diverse and vibrant city where it’s possible to experience an incredible variety of events, festivals and live entertainment ranging from traditional to cutting edge, from neighborhood festivals to one-of-a-kind events that attract world-wide attention.

There is so much to do in my hometown – and the variety of settings is as diverse as the list of activities. From Jeffersontown to Portland and Fairdale to Old Louisville there are unique festivals and celebrations throughout the year. Whether it’s live music by the river at Waterfront Wednesdays, our WorldFest celebration of international cultures or the ever-expanding Kentucky Derby Festival – there is something for everyone.
Ford Ironman 2007
Our focus on the outdoors this year includes continued improvements to our nationally-recognized Metro Parks system, further expansion of award-winning Waterfront Park, the new Louisville Loop trail and new and improved bike and walking trails.
Louisville will continue to host major sporting events that will draw thousands of visitors, including the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla, the Triple-A All-Star Baseball Game at Slugger Field and the return of the Ford Ironman Triathlon.Woldfest Music
Louisville Metro is excited to have outstanding partners who help make the MetroFest Calendar widely available. Look for the MetroFest Calendar in the March issue of Louisville Magazine and at all Thornton’s QuickCafe & Market locations around Louisville. We hope you will keep it handy and refer to it often as you plan your evenings, weekends, family visits, and get-togethers with friends.

Sincerely,

Jerry E. Abramson
