2007 Goals
EMS
1. To ensure the provision of expert and compassionate prehospital emergency medical care in Louisville Metro, by completing the initial implementation steps of a 911 EMS system that is:
- Fully accountable;
- Performance-measured;
- Quality assured;
- Medically focused;
- Responsive to its community;
- Fiscally responsible, and
- Completely integrated with Communications and Fire services.
- To facilitate a change in the culture of EMS, so that providers and staff assume responsibility for:
- Ownership of their own ‘best practices’ model workplace;
- Promotion of a public-health model for emergency medical services, and
- Their own physical and psychological health and well-being.
Metro Louisville
- To continue to expand the city’s focus on the health and well-being of its citizens, including the development and implementation of aggressive programs and legislation promoting:
- Tobacco cessation
- Awareness of the implications of fast-food consumption
- Physical activity and exercise
- Weight control
- Stress management
- Accident Prevention
- Gun control
- To foster the development of a seamless interface for effective communication and problem-solving between city agencies---e.g., Public Protection Cabinet, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities Management, Information Technology and Neighborhoods---highlighting the importance of partnership and interagency support.
