Welcome to Louisville Metro Human Services (LMHS) - Division of the Department of Housing & Family Services
Our work centers on children, youth, adults and the elderly – providing the assistance they need at different periods in their lives. Our ultimate goal is to strengthen families, because strong families provide the underpinning for a strong community.
Working in over 30 programs,
- We assist in stabilizing families as they move toward self-sufficiency;
- We provide training and guidance to our youth as they prepare for adulthood;
- We provide meals and daily contact to the elderly to enable them to remain in their homes longer: and
- We provide leadership and support in policy and advocacy arenas through community projects and collaborations.
In addition, we extend our outreach and multiply our efforts by providing funding to non-profits that focus on those same populations and goals. And, we are engaged in partnerships and collaborations that ensure that every available resource is being used.
