In mid October, there is no place more beautiful in Louisville Metro than the Jefferson Memorial Forest. One Metro Councilwoman says it is the perfect time of year to not only enjoy the view but get healthy too.
“When the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Hike returns to the Forest this year, I hope everyone will take advantage of an event that shows the beauty of this scenic place,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13).
The Hike will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm on October 18th in the Horine Section of the forest located at 12304 Holsclaw Hill Road.
It will feature five of the Forest’s 13 trails. There will be guided tours and many options for those who wish to come out and walk or hike. The trails range from one fifth of a mile up to five miles.
“Metro Parks has done a great job of getting the forest ready for the hike after the storm damage we had on September 14th,” says Welch. “This forest is a very special place for many people and we are looking forward to welcoming those people who have never been here before.”
