Recreation

Metro Parks serves as the community's largest fitness club, with more than 14,000 acres of natural space as well as specialized recreation programs and facilities, including 17 community centers. The Recreation Division includes a full-time staff of 85 recreation professionals, along with a part-time staff of 60 and a seasonal staff of up to 600.






THE RECREATION DIVISION INCLUDES:

Adapted Leisure Activities	Serving citizens of all ages with mental and/or physical disabilities.
Aquatics	The year-round Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center and several outdoor summer pools.
Arts Programming	Metro Parks conducts a variety of arts and cultural events throughout the year.
Athletics	Youth and adult sports leagues, along with field reservations.
Community Centers	17 facilities providing diverse recreation programs throughout our community.
Community Schools	Recreation programs operated in partnership with other organizations.
Metro Arts Center	Classes for children and adults in the fine and applied arts.
Recreation on the Go	Metro Parks can now bring recreational programs to your school, church, residential facility or neighborhood.
Senior Services	Recreation for Louisville's diverse senior citizen population.
Special Events Crew	The Special Events Crew gives artistically-inclined teens the opportunity to teach children about the benefits of parks.
Summer Camps	Artistic, environmental and sports programs for children.
