2008 Fall Junk and Recycling Drop-Off
The free semi-annual junk and recycling drop-off gives residents the opportunity to properly dispose of unwanted items at no charge.
Acceptable items: Appliances, furniture, household junk and other large items not accepted by waste haulers. Freon is removed from refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners by a licensed contractor. Metal items including appliances should be kept separated; those items will be recycled.
The following items will not be accepted: yard waste (grass, limbs, leaves and storm debris), computer systems and electronics, household hazardous chemicals, paints, tires and commercial trash.
Electronic items should be taken to the CyberCycle Program for recycling at the Waste Reduction Center at 636 Meriwether Avenue. Residents may recycle up to three electronic systems for free using the Metro's CyberCycle Program. The program accepts items such as: computer systems, televisions, monitors, scanners, printers, VCRs, CD players, digital cameras, electronic game systems and cell phones may be taken to the Waste Reduction Center during the hours of operation are Tuesday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Materials such as oil and lead-based paints, lawn fertilizers, and household chemicals can be taken to the Louisville Metro Household Hazardous Waste collection site known as HAZ BIN located at 7501 Grade Lane. The center is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This service is free to Louisville residents. No waste will be accepted from businesses.
